Mhps Opens Poland Office To Target Coal Business

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems has opened a new office in Poland in order to win orders for coal-fired power systems.

The office in Warsaw will bring MHPS's corporate functions in Poland together in one location and will serve as the company's business development hub for the country.

An opening ceremony was attended by delegates from the Polish Ministry of Energy and Japan's Ambassador to Poland, Shigeo Matsutomi, as well as MHPS President Kenji Ando, vice-president Yasuo Fujitani and chief executive of MHPS Europe, Rainer Kiechl.
"Poland is one of the most dynamic markets for energy plant construction," said Kiechl. "With our knowhow and technological market leadership, we hope to participate in this growth as a partner to our Polish customers and stakeholders."

"I am convinced that the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems group has the best skills and the right expertise for this task."

MHPS has supplied bituminous coal-fired power equipment with a capacity of 1075 MW for Unit 11 of the Kozienice power plant, operated by ENEA Wytwarzanie. The new unit is due to begin operations in December.

It has also received orders to supply lignite-fired power equipment for Unit 11 of the Turów thermal power station, operated by state-owned PGK (Polska Grupa Energetyczna). Construction of the new unit is underway and operations are due to start in 2020.
